ROLE PURPOSE:
The incumbent of this position represents Save the Children values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management and leadership. The selected employee will be responsible for providing technical activities of integrated health, and nutrition project at woreda level. Ensure program implementation is in line with the planned budget, conducting training and monitoring effective implementation of program at health facilities and ensure program performance is in line with the international and national standard
JOB SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In line with SCI’s dual mandate, these key areas of accountability apply to SCI Ethiopia’s work in emergencies (acute and chronic) and in development settings as necessary.
Program Management
· Support implementation of integrated health, nutrition and WASH project per woreda and ensuring that the minimum sphere standards met.
· Ensures effective start up, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of integrated health and nutrition projects per woreda.
· Support in Planning and setting up new OTP and SC sites and PHC services activities.
· Facilitate and support trainings for health professionals in Community based Management Acute Malnutrition, IRT and IYCF accordingly.
· Participating in health, nutrition, and/or multi-sectoral assessments as required.
· Proper management of all Save the Children resources (equipment, supplies, drugs, vehicle and fuel) committed to the project.
· Conducts regular health facilities visits to provide technical support and supportive supervision to the health and nutrition activities of the project.
· Participate in the facilitation of work plans, POPs, budgets, and other required program documents for integrated health and nutrition related activities per woreda.
· Closely work with the humanitarian team to ensure that program budgets are efficiently used complying with donor requirements, and that reports are submitted in a timely manner.
· Conducts regular review meetings with government officials to monitor the implementation of integrated health and nutrition activities.
· In collaboration with Health and Nutrition program Coordinator, ensure timely preparation and implementation of phase-out strategy.
Representation and communication
· Represents Save the Children in woreda level nutrition and health coordination and other fora as required.
· Documents findings and recommendations of field visits for follow-up actions and share.
· Prepare and submit program reports, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness per the responsibility areas.
· Documents lessons learned in specific technical areas per woreda.
· Prepare case story as per the format.
Staff and Budget Management
· Support health and nutrition program at the Woreda and the health facility level.
Other
· Performs other related tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALFICATION AND EXPEREINCE
· Bachelor degree in public health and related fields.
· Minimum 2 years’ field experience in humanitarian work, including significant experience in managing integrated projects.
· Good leadership, coordination and management experience.
· Knowledge of latest health related technical guidelines and standards in emergency nutrition and health.
· Experienced in emergency health and nutrition related activities, specifically SAM management.
· Experience in quality assurance in a clinical setting desirable.
· Demonstrated ability for conflict resolution and independent decision making
· Strong interpersonal skills & excellent team player.
· Willingness and ability to work in hardship environment.
· Cultural and gender sensitivity
· Fluency in written and spoken English and knowledge of local language (Halabigna) is advantage.
