GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit an expert in forestry to advise Suba Sebeta forest district and work closely on other assignemnts with the Senior Forestry Advisor in Biodiversity and Forest programme as specified below.

Position: Junior Forestry Expert
Place of Work: Addis Ababa, BFP coordination office (with frequent travel to the program sites)
Remuneration: as per the GIZ scale

A. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent of this post has the main responsibility to:
· Communication with the responsible regional forestry sector authorities;
· Support to the programme field staff in close cooperation with the superior;
· Establishment of synergies between different forest activities in BFP;
· Technical monitoring of the project’s field activities related to forestry;
· Closely advise Suba Sebeta forest district in their partnership with BFP
B. The Tasks
1. Communication with the responsible regional forestry sector authorities
· To be aware of what is done at national and international level in relation to the management of tropical forests (and especially at the level of the Horn of (Eastern) Africa)
· To support the activities implemented by the programme on the basis of the MoEFCC’s defined priority areas chosen for the Biodiversity and Forestry Programme
2. Support to the programme field staff in close cooperation with the superior
· To be available for all kind of planning of field activities in the frame of the Programme’s forestry part
· To make sure that all stakeholders are linked in strategic events of the programme;
· To play a role of “communication bridge” between the field staff and the HQ of the programme
3. Establishment of synergies between different forest activities in BFP
· To cooperate in the strategic development of the forestry component;
· To ensure the involvement of the field staff in all kind of forestry component discussions;
· To make the link to the monitoring and to guarantee at all time, that monitoring information from the field is smart and verifiable;
4. Technical monitoring of the projects field activities related to forestry
· To coordinate all kind of activities between HQ and the field, in forestry and between components;
· To support the close monitoring of the activities in relation to the indicators of the programme;
5. Closely advise Suba Sebeta forest district in their partnership with BFP
· To be available for all kind of planning of field activities in Suba Sebeta forest district
· To support the implementation of all kind of activities in Suba Sebeta planed with the program
· To guarantee at any time the information flow about all relevant issues for the site to the head office of programme and vice-versa,
C. Other responsibilities
· Support the administration of the program and ensure that the rules and regulations of GIZ are always respected.
· To take an active part in all the meetings, workshops etc. the program
· Be actively involved in transversal tasks (gender, HIV AIDS, etc.)
· Assume all other assigned tasks of the superior
Qualifications required
· Degree in Forestry, natural resource management or related subject;
· Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience in the sector of Forestry, forest management, and forest landscape restoration preferably in an international NGO or cooperation body
· Good mastering of the English language and at least two Ethiopian languages .
