For our Procurement and Services unit at GIZ country office in Addis Ababa, we are looking for a
Position: Custom Clearance and Insurance Officer
Remuneration: As per the GIZ scale

Under the supervision of the Head Procurement and Services the officer will be responsible for
A. Overall Responsibility:
§ Customs clearance for both import and export processes
§ Local vehcile insurances
§ Vehicle sells and transfers
B. Tasks:
§ Clearing all items, import and export for GIZ ET and all its projects.
§ Responsible for obtaining the required permits for these transactions from the ministry of foreign affairs, the road transport authority, customs authority, ministry of health, ministry of Communication & Technology, Information Network Security Agency (INSA) and many other government ministries or authorities / offices for special permit.
§ Assist in organizing initial registration, taxation, and insurance of project vehicles
§ Sends out registration and insurance document to respective programs and leaves copy at GIZ country office.
§ Monitors the status of official and personal vehicle registration on the agreed shared folder location.
§ Works out and organizes donation of program/project vehicle to counterparts
§ Insurance processing - both local and international insurance documents.
§ In charge of communication with the project and staff members with regards to clearance and insurance issues.
§ Initiates and follows up on vehicle accident insurance claims from both local and German insurance companies
§ Informs projects/programs of vehicles due for renewal of registration and insurance, requests for the necessary documents, and follows up on renewal, as needed
§ File documents with completed transactions as per the GIZ standard
§ Update on a daily basis status of services on Procurement and Services Status Notification System/ clearance and insurance monitoring sheet.
§ Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by superior/s.
§ Compliance with GIZ Orientation and Rules and the GIZ Ethiopia National Personnel Policy.
A. Required Educational qualifications, professional experience and competency
· University degree in Business Administration, Management or related field. Master’s preferred.
· A minimum of 5 years relevant occupational experience or equivalent combination of both.
· Fluent in English both in speaking and writing, ideally a knowledge of German.
