The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Researcher II.
Key Responsibilities
- Execution of clinical trials and lead the clinical team in close collaboration with the PI
- Conduct and lead recruitment of study Participants.
- Conduct and lead clinical examinations and medical follow-up of study participants
- Conduct and coordinate other clinical procedures required in the study protocol.
- Lead data collection, verify and review clinical data and ensure proper data transfer to DMU.
- Supervise clinical study record keeping and archiving.
- Ensure protection, care and retention of study participants during the study conduct.
- Cooperate in ensuring quality control activities in the conduct of trials.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the principal investigator and/or the team leader/director.
Education & Publication Point:
- Medical Doctor and 4 years of experience and 4 publication points; OR
- Medical Doctor plus MSc Degree in Clinical Research or related fields and 2 years of experience and 3 publication points; OR
- PhD in Medical Doctor and 0 years of experience
Experience
- Experience in medical practice and in clinical research is a requirement
- Demonstrated experience in clinical trial and clinical data collection as Study Physician and/or Principal Investigator is a requirement
Certificate Trainings:
1. Registered professional, licensed
2. Training in GCP, GCLP, medical research ethics and Clinical research
Other Competencies:
- Well versed knowledge to local and international guidelines and regulations for the conduct of clinical trials
- Management/supervisory skill
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to work with potentially infection risk environment.
- Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and others.
- High personal motivation and willingness to work occasional night and weekend schedules.
