Activity Background
As part of the USAID Comprehensive HIV Services for Key and Priority Populations activity, FHI 360 is developing an economic strengthening and gender empowerment training for female sex workers (FSW) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in the Addis Ababa and Amhara regions of Ethiopia. The project requires a Consultant or team of two Consultants to adapt an existing curriculum and train a team of trainers in the revised curriculum.
Objective of Consultancy:
To 1) adapt ASPIRES an existing economic strengthening (ES) training curriculum incorporating gender-empowerment and gender-based violence (GBV) topics to the programmatic context of the USAID Comprehensive HIV Services for Key and Priority Populations activity, 2) develop and implement a Training of Trainers (ToT) on this curriculum, and 3) monitor early roll-out of the ToT to implementers.
Location
The consultancy will take place in Addis Ababa, with some travel to implementation sites in the Addis Ababa and Amhara regions required during roll-out monitoring.
Scope of Work
The Consultant will be responsible for adapting an existing ES training program developed by FHI 360 in Cote d’Ivoire to fit the needs and context of female sex workers (FSW) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) participating in the USAID Comprehensive HIV Services for Key Populations activity. FHI 360 will be responsible for providing materials that the Consultant will use to inform the adaptation of the curriculum. The materials FHI 360 will provide include 1) a landscape assessment of financial services, employment, and training opportunities available to FSW and AGYW, and 2) a financial diaries study of the financial lives and needs of FSW in Addis Ababa.
The Consultant will also assist with the adaptation and integration of additional, existing modules on gender topics into the ES curriculum. FHI 360 will provide these modules. After adapting the training materials, the Consultant will deliver a Training of Trainers (ToT) to FHI 360 staff, who will in turn deliver their own ToT to implementing partner (IP) staff who will cascade it to targeted participants. The Consultant will provide monitoring support during the ToTs for IP staff.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position will:
· Have a university-level education
· Be fluent in spoken and written English and Amharic
· Have demonstrated experience implementing financial capabilities and life skills training curricula and strong training facilitation skills
· Curriculum development and experience with adult learning methodologies
· Experience with gender empowerment or GBV training preferred
· Experience training FSWs and/or adolescent girls and young women preferred
