Job title: Water Technician
Reports to: WaSH Officer
Required No: 1 (One)
Duty station: Dheka Suftu
Duration of contract: 3 months.
Job Purpose:
The position of Water Technician is under the direct supervision of the WASH officer and he/she will be responsible for the operation, care, maintenance and installation/rehabilitation of water supply systems, reservoirs and distribution pipe network systems and to ensure water trucking activities going accordingly. The Water technician assistant is also responsible to develop, establish and strengthen community based water supply management models with communities and stakeholders through liaison, coordination and empowering beneficiary communities to own, manage and sustain their water supply facilities and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordination and networking
Ø To liaise with Government and other relevant actors as requested by the line supervisor
Ø Establish good working relationship with Concern staff, government bodies and other stakeholders
· Technical Support and Facilitation
Ø Supervise Water track monitors/WTMs
Ø Train Water track monitors on water chlorination guidelines and water quality test.
Ø Give regular technical supports and on the job coaching to Water track monitors on chlorination and water quality test.
Ø Ensure daily availability of potable water from the water tracking meeting the minimum standards in each of the distribution points.
Ø Ensure the water distributed for the beneficiary is based on the minimum standard of Free Residual Chlorine (FRC) levels at distribution points
Ø Regularly assess, monitor and ensure distribution lines, emergency water taps and over all pipe networks starting from source up to final points.
Ø Support WASH team in the process of conducting rapid assessments to identify the presence and functionality of any existing water infrastructure across the site in a participatory process that incorporate the needs of the community, including those of women and vulnerable members of the community.
Ø Take part in designing effective community participation, monitoring system and feedback mechanisms that enable beneficiaries to own and sustain the system with WASH officer.
Ø Ensure that cross cutting issues are mainstreamed into the project of in site selection of distribution points.
· Planning, Reporting and Accountability
Ø Contributing to the preparation of internal and external reports
Ø Prepare weekly, and monthly reports on time.
Ø At all times adhere to policies and guidelines of Concern.
Ø Give technical support to the field staff on mainstreaming gender, protection, accountability, HIV/AIDS, inequality and DRR in the implementation of WaSH and Infrastructure activities
· Additional Duties
Ø Perform other duties assigned by the line manager for the accomplishment of program objectives.
