Amref Health Africa is an African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa envision to bringing lasting health change for Africain more than 30 countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and sanitation and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia has been working in Ethiopia since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, health workforce development, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations.
USAID Transform Health in Developing Regions (Transform HDR) is a five-year Activity supported by UASID through Cooperative Agreement No. AID-663-A-17-00006.The Activity is implemented by a consortium of organizations: Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia (lead), Project Hope, Intrahealth International and General Electric Healthcare in the four developing regional states – Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz, Ethiopia Somali, and Gambella. These four developing regions have a combined population of 8,012,436, account for 52% of the country’s landmass. Afar and Somali regions represent 85% of the population in the four regions. The four developing regional states account for nearly half of the land mass of the country. Ethiopia Somali and Afar contribute to the largest pastoralist communities in the country.
Transform HDR is one of USAID Ethiopia’s Health, AIDS, Population and Nutrition Office investments to support the GOE’s attainment of the five years Health Sector Transformation Plan (HSTP 2016 – 20). Transform HDR implements activities through women- children- and girl-centered lens, under a three-pronged strategic approach focusing on:
1) Increased access to integrated quality high impact MNCH/FP services;
2) Increased health seeking behavior enhanced by reduced gender inequalities and;
3) Improved evidence-based decision making and program learning; all with the overall goal of strengthening DRS’ health systems.
The consulting firm should have the following attributes;
· Has a mix of professionals in the area of GIS, public health, data management and social sciences-anthropology, gender-, Produce map that shows the location of pastoralist communities in Afar and Ethiopian Somali regional states within specific woredas
· Monitoring and Evaluation
· Has previous experience for a similar type of work
· Has experience of working with international development partners, FMOH and local authorities, particularly at the level of the community in the developing regional states.
