About Girl Effect
Girl Effect (GE) is a global organisation that uses creative digital and media products to empower adolescent girls. In Ethiopia, Girl Effect launched Yegna in 2013 as a unique brand for positive social change with music and media content rooted in Ethiopian culture and co-created with girls.
About Yegna
Yegna is a multi-media platform which encourages positive behavior change for girls in Ethiopia by tackling real-life challenges through entertaining stories and music. Yegna is Ethiopia’s most successful youth brand, which today reaches 8.5 million people, or 50% of the population in Addis and the Amhara region. The brand is carefully designed to be rooted in Ethiopian culture and reflects the realities of the youth in Ethiopia today.
