JOB TITLE: CMAM Senior Project Officer/CMAM/SPO
Duty Station: Hadellela, Delfage and Simrobi Woredas of Afar Region
NO of Post: Three
JOB PURPOSE:
To implement the emergency nutrition programme as per in-country protocols and international standards
Main Duties & Responsibilities (Including Training Role):
· Ensure, that the OTP/SC components of the emergency nutrition project is of good quality and is reaching international standards for performance with support from the project manager
· Co-ordinate, manage and support the outreach work of government Health Extension Workers to implement the government run OTP/SC services according to national guideline, international standards and Concern policies
· Support staff development through coaching and mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and MoH staff
· In collaboration with MoH staff, facilitate SAM management training to health centre / health post staff
· Ensure the continual availability of food, medicine, and other supplies required for the project in the identified Woreda and ensure its proper management, including ordering, storage, and monitoring
· Ensure weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format
· Ensure and support the Woreda Health Office (WoHO) staff in reporting,recording and supply management of OTP and SC programmes
· Ensure the OTP and SC programme to run through the existing MOH structure
· Monitor and ensure quality of TSFP implementation
· Ensure referrals and linkage between the TSFP and OTP/SC CMAM components
· Facilitate and participate regularly at Woreda level health and nutrition taskforce meetings to be chaired by the Woreda health office and/or Disaster Prepardness and Prevention Office/DPPO
· Ensure good collaboration and participation of WoHO and other relevant local agencies
· Conduct frequent joint supervision visits to OTP, SC and TSFP sites with Woreda health office and other government sectors as needed
· Participate in nutrition and coverage surveys and other assessments as needed
· Liaise with health centre and health post staff on the planning, implementation and monitoring of OTP and SC in their locations
· Facilitate proper management of OTP/SC stocks by MOH counterparts; monitor rates of consumption and ensure supplies are ordered in timely manner
· Prepare monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the Project Manager
· Report any problems in a timely manner to the Project Manager
· Perform any other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Project Manager
Essential:
· BSc Degree in Public Health/Nursing with minimum of three years or Diploma in clinical nursing five years relevant experience
· Profound experience in CMAM, particularly SAM management
· Computer literate
· NGO experience in emergency projects is an advantage
· Good communication and report writing skills
· Good negotiation skill with government and other agencies
Required
· Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
· Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
· Ability to work under pressure
· Local language is preferable
