Background of the Organization:
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic Church based non-governmental organization with a mission to accompany, serve and protect refugees and internally displaced persons–regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality. JRS is a non - profit venture of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits’) that was established in 1980. It has been operational in Ethiopia since 1982. Currently, it works in over 50 countries worldwide. The main areas of interventions are on non-formal education, psychosocial, youth empowerment, child protection, emergency assistance, livelihood and social services.
JRS Ethiopia is now seeking to hire qualified Head Counsellor for its Mai-Aini Programme Operation office.
Summary Description of the Post:
The Head Counsellor is responsible for leading and coordinating JRS’s psychosocial interventions in Mai-Aini and Adi-Harush refugee camps for Eritrean refugees and the surrounding host communties. S/he supervises works of peer-counsellors, build their counselling and other services provision skills and capacity by designing on-job trainings; provide individual and group counselling services for clients; deliver life skills and other related trainings for adolescents and youth; lead psychosocial needs assessment, participate in project design and evaluation of JRS’s psychosocial projects. S/she is also responsible for producing high quality periodical reports and submit for relevant actors at various levels. The Head Counsellor reports to Project Director.
