Applicant for developing training and community conversation manuals
Type of Contract: Individual Contract
Duration of Assignment: Three Months
Background:
The Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa) is a World Bank supported center of excellence for education and research at the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The main aim of CDT-Africa is to serve as a platform for equitable access to interventions (medicines, vaccines, diagnostics and complex interventions) and bring about sustainable development in Africa through high-quality capacity development for innovative therapeutic discovery.
CDT-Africa has planned to integrate and scale up a holistic package of community-level care – including physical and psychosocial care – for patients with podoconiosis, Lymphatic Filariasis and leprosy in a selected district in Ethiopia. As part of the capacity building, the CDT-Africa needs to have a standard holistic care package training manual. The care package will be piloted in a single district and then based on the lesson from the pilot study, it will be scaled up to three other districts. The findings of this study are expected to inform existing plans for scale-up of integrated foot care and psychosocial support interventions across Ethiopia and other endemic low and middle-income countries.
Objective of the Assignment:
The primary goal of the local consultancy is to prepare integrated training manual for podoconiosis, Lymphatic Filariasis, leprosy and co-morbid mental disorders. The training will help in integration of the care package in the primary health care. In addition, there is a need to prepare a community conversation manual addressing all the above mentioned diseases.
