The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Junior Researcher for Severe Typhoid Fever in Africa (SETA) Program-Ethiopia Project in the Bacteriology and Virology Research Directorate. The Junior Researcher is being accountable to the research Project Head & the Director, together with the Project Leader; he/she develops study plans, recruit patients, supervise & coordinate clinical and lab activities, assists in project management & reporting, contributes to the overall performance of the study team in the research process as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Result 1: Contributes to the quality and timely delivery of clinical, field & laboratory research results of the project in SETA study site by:-
· Preparing patient recruitment plan of the research project in the study health facility.
· Recruiting study patients per the required criteria in SETA project
· securing the necessary resources and facility for conducting the research project
· carrying out the day to day operation including data collection, supervision of the clinical and lab activities of the research project with possible field visit.
· ensure the quality of samples & data collected per the study protocol and required standards
· Assisting and/or coordinate the research project team members in the health facility.
· coordinate and monitor recruitment, data & samples collection and follow-up of SETA study participants.
· participating in community sensitization and follow-up of study participants as necessary
· serve as technical & admin contact person for all project clinical related activities in the study health facility.
Result 2. Contributes to training and ensures the efficient and effective utilization of project resources by:-
· Assist in preparing training programs and materials for the training of the study site staff as deemed necessary
· Facilitate preparation and utilization of the field and lab research project resources
· Anticipating the research project’s material needs and requesting supplies on time
Result 3. Perform other project related duties as required by:
· preparing clinical recruitment performance reports of project
· Preparing and submitting periodic reports on the performance of the project in the study site
· Field visit and supervision of all project activities in the clinic, lab & field during data & sample collection
· Other related responsibilities as requested by the project leader and/or director as necessary
Educational Qualification: - BSc in Public Health (HO) or BSc in Clinical nursing
- Minimum GPA 3.00 for male and 2.75 for female
Experience: - 0 years experience
Other Competencies
· Clinical experience is an advantage
· Strong interest in clinical and field research is a requirement
· Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skill
· Knowledge and experience to the traditions and customs of the people in the project area is an advantage
