PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
Reporting to the WASH coordinator, the WASH Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of the Water schemes rehabilitation and maintenances, and sanitation infrastructures of Oromia East Harerghe zone, various woredas that includes electromehnical equipment maintenance, replacement water point’s maintenance, and sanitation infrastructure construction and participate on regular WASH related activities with the government water sector offices.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Coordinate with the relevant woreda level water and health sectors and community partners towards mobilizing the community for the maintenance and rehabilitation of water schemes and construction of sanitation infrastructure.
· Monitor & supervise water supply systems structures rehabilitation, construction of sanitation infrastructures construction which include electromechnical equipment and hand pump replacement, rehabilitation of reservoir, public tap stands, pipe laying of pressure mains & distribution networks, communal latrines, hand washing facilities, etc;
· Prepare detail design, drawings, and BoQ of sanitation infrastructures, water schemes for rehabilitation, expansion, rehabilitation and share for the supervisor for approval.
· Initiate procurement towards purchase of the required items for rehabilitation, maintenance and construction of water supply system;
· Participate on meetings regarding sanitation and water supply activities in East Harerghe Zones/woredas as advised by the supervisor;
· Participate/facilitate the WASHCO training for the rehabilitated or constructed water schemes and Sanitation facilities
· Facilitate in documenting sanitation and water supply construction related data and keep records of water supply activities
· Supervision of on-force & all contracted activities such as construction of sanitation facilities, maintenance of generator, installation of hand pumps, Generator house, pipe lines, tap stand by presenting at site level during the construction.
· Participate on needs assessments, planning, organizing, and implementation, of WASH programs
· Participate on assessment/survey in collaboration with the WASH coordinator and woreda staff
· Update the emergency situation in the woreda on bi-weekly bases
· Facilitate in working with relevant partners government sector offices: water, health, and DPPC or other NGO’s and GO’s
· Prepare monthly reports and submit to the supervisor on the work progress of the water schemes constructed, and maintained
· Participate in other WASH activities as assigned by the supervisor.
· Experienced professionals in a relevant field diploma or BSc Degree in the area of civil engineer, with at least 2 years of relevant work experiences.

· Working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
