Background:
The Bilateral Ethiopia Netherlands Effort for Food Income and Trade (BENEFIT) partnership is a portfolio of four programmes (ISSD Ethiopia, CASCAPE, ENTAG and SBN), which is funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Netherlands through its Embassy in Addis Ababa.
CASCAPE:
CASCAPE (Capacity Building for Scaling up of Evidence-based Best Practices in Agricultural Production Programme) is a project of Ethiopia and the Netherlands to improve agricultural productivity in Ethiopia. The first phase of the project was jointly executed by researchers from six Ethiopian universities (Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Haramaya, Hawassa, Jimma and Mekelle) and Wageningen University and Research Centre. CASCAPE was part of AGP I - and is now extended into AGP II. After the success of CASCAPE I, CASCAPE II started in 2016. CASCAPE II is provide low to high intensity support to 160 woredas of AGP II through the identification of farmer innovations suitable for scaling up as ‘best fit practices’, adaptive research, technology validation, pre-technology release demonstrations and capacity building.
SELECTOTR:
SELECTOR(Sustainable vaLuE Creation for Title hOldeR) is a project aiming to impact and increase sustainability in Ethiopia’s agricultural growth and production .SELECTOR will continue to support on facilitation and sharing knowledge and information of agricultural technology and sector by using CASCAPE technology in different woredas and kebeles of current CASCAPE woredas. SELECTOR will be jointly executed by researchers in Addis Ababa university and Bahirdar university
Terms of Reference:
The Sustainable Land Management Expert shall implement this partnership on the ground level. The Expert shall be part of the CASCAPE Addis Ababa cluster and is expected to work closely with the CASCAPE Addis Ababa cluster manager and with the CASCAPE experts. The Expert is expected to report to and shall be monitored and supervised by the CASCAPE cluster manager and SELECTOR and Sustainable land management projects coordinator
