ABOUT WFP ADD OFFICE
The WFP Addis Ababa Office (ADD) works through policy, advocacy and communications with a vision of positioning ADD as an effective and credible partner of the African Union (AU) and its organs and the Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), among other UN agencies. ADD provides expertise and liaison geared to build, grow and nurture these partnerships with a view to achieve Zero Hunger as articulated in the Agenda 2030 and Africa’s Agenda 2063. ADD is unique among WFP Liaison Offices, in that its role is not resource mobilization but rather offers through advocacy and policy formulation, the alignment of WFP country IRM/CSPs within the African Development agenda.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
This job will be under the direct supervision of the Head, Education Division - African Union Commission Department of Human Resource Science and Technology and will work in close collaboration with WFP ADD Office to the African Union.
JOB PURPOSE
Guided by the Corporate Partnership Strategy, to manage effective relationships and collaboration with external partners in order to meet WFP strategic objectives. To represent WFP externally to safeguard and promote WFP interests. To ensure a flow of relevant information between WFP and partners, and propose opportunities for synergies that maximize results.

Ability to organise and coordinate high level continental fora. Ease of interacting with AU Commissioners, Directors, member states through the Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and other high ranking Government Officials, and heads of Missions. Ability to communicate moderately complex matters clearly and concisely. Ability to perform detailed work, handle work of a confidential nature and/or to handle a large volume of work possibly under time constraints. Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Identify and resolve operational problems.
