GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of development, resiliency and humanitarian responses - working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders. Currently GOAL Ethiopia's major funders are USAID/OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid/MAPS, Irish Aid/EHAF, UNOCHA.GOAL currently work in over 25 woredas across four Regions of Ethiopia and we deliver a range of programs including child protection, development, nutrition, emergency relief and rehabilitation. In 2005 GOAL, in partnership with USAID/OFDA, established the Humanitarian Response Programme (HRP) to respond to emergency nutrition situations in Ethiopia. This programme has grown substantially over the years, and is now multi-donor and multi-sectorial, with interventions throughout Ethiopia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, highly motivated and experienced Sanitation & Hygiene Promotion Officer to join the humanitarian response programme – Field and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team. You will be joining the organisation at a moving time of growth and change and you will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of planned activities related to Hygiene and Sanitation aspects of the proposal in to each of the programme activities and the system are developed to monitor and evaluate the performance of this activities involved in the identification, planning, implementation and monitoring of hygiene and sanitation related activities.
ABOUT YOU
The Sanitation and hygiene promotion officer will be participate in the successful implementation of the water, sanitation and hygiene promotion activities and check regularly that effective integration is exercised with nutrition in the whole course of the project implementation.
Requirements (educational, experience, language, etc.)
3 years for BSc degree or 5 years for Diploma in environmental health/community health or relevant field with relevant experience preferably with an NGO;
Have technical background and knowledge in environmental health and demonstrated work experience in water and sanitation in designing and implementing hygiene promotion/hygiene education programs;
Demonstrate facilitation skill of hygiene promotion tools such as BSF ,Tulip , CLTS and PHAST
Ability to demonstrate basic skills of community engagement and mobilization into practice.
Ability to effectively liaise with local government, community leaders and other stakeholders and conduct Hygiene promotion for community and local government
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English.
Knowledge of Oromiffaa language is mandatory,
Ability to understand the cultural context of the community and use that culture as an input for community mobilization.

Have good understanding and hands on experience on hygiene promotion, sustainable development core principles and values; Community Development, Institutional Building and planning, monitoring and evaluation of community initiated, led and managed developmental activities/ interventions
Familiarity to local culture.
Passionate, strongly dedicated and highly committed to work for the improvement of the poor community.
Remuneration & Benefits:
Salary Birr 8,448.00/month
Transportation Allowance - 10% of monthly salary
Hardship Allowance, 30% of monthly salary
Medical Allowance - Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
Pension - as per the government pension scheme (11% from the employer and 7% from the Employee).
