PIN currently invites applicants for the position of: WASH Engineer (#1) for specific project called “Emergency response to the most acute WASH and Shelter needs of IDPs in Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia''
Length of Contract: for 6 months
She/he is responsible for the implementation and technical quality of WASH-related constructions in IDPs camps in Yirgachefe Woreda The WASH Engineer will have responsibility over construction of trerch latrine, communal shower, water drop off and others and may be required to provide technical support to other projects outside of the areas mentioned above.
Main responsibilities:
o Responsible for day-to-day monitoring and supervision of all construction or rehabilitation project activities to ensure high technical quality and timeliness of implementation.
o Prepare required construction designs including schematics, detailed bill of quantities (BOQs), and budget estimates in response to emerging PIN WASH activities.
o Monitoring and evaluate all WASH-related construction projects, revise plans, designs, and strategy as required.
o Prepare procurement documents for WASH-related construction works following PIN procedures.
o Monitor the progress and implementation of interventions/activities as per the relevant contract.
o Support and supervise technical trainings
o Collect GPS locations and Prepare KMZ files with Google earth and documentation
o Monitor and approve construction material quality for the construction activity
o Updated and daily communication with the Technical line manager and project manager
o BSc degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering and other related fields of study
o A minimum of 3 years’ of work experience in a similar position.
o Experience in construction & rehabilitation of boreholes, water scheme, latrines & rainwater harvesting.
o Excellent analytical, team work, negotiation and influencing skills
o Excellent documentation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Google earth software
o Able to remain objective and function independently from other agency departments.
o Excellent knowledge of spoken & written Amharic and English (knowledge of local language of the area will be an advantage.
o 3 strong references (will be crosschecked)
