BACKGROUND:
The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) has been established by the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) to identify and address systemic bottlenecks to Ethiopia’s agricultural development. The Agency does this through problem-solving, implementation support, and capacity building of stakeholders involved in implementation of interventions that address systemic bottlenecks. The Agency reports to a Transformation Council chaired by the Prime Minister and whose co-chair is the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Resources (MoALR).
The ATA regional offices is primarily established to be the link between the ATA headquarter and Regional bureaus of agriculture and Livestock Resources (RBoALR) in bringing transformational initiatives that are developed and incubated by different programs at the federal level closer to the smallholder farmers, the private sectors, cooperatives and other key actors in the agriculture sector. The government approved mandate of the ATA regional offices is to support agricultural sector transformation by enhancing and supporting existing structures of government, private-sector and other non-governmental partners, to address systemic as well as commodity- and geography-specific bottlenecks in the agricultural value chains.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Working under the supervision of the Project Officer - Regional Business Development, the Project Officer – Regional Livestock Specialist will be responsible for providing technical guidance and conducting capacity building activities in delivery of livestock related extension services to One stop shop staff, and support OSS’s livestock related extension services to smallholder clients. The Livestock Specialist will also be responsible for ensuring that OSS grantees conduct thorough demand assessments in feed and forage seed, veterinary inputs, AI and technical services and facilitating training/demonstration activities of these products for OSS customers/smallholder farmers.
