Plan International Ethiopia is looking for Emergency Project Coordinator for Amhara Program Area.
The position holders will provide overall direction on quality emergency projects/program development and implementation in line with Plan’s global RDM policy and strategy at the program area level. He/she ensures that emergency projects are delivered efficiently and effectively within the entire program area for each project cycle across all the sectors by which the interventions area designed.
The position holder supports the emergency project/program response team at all levels to ensure proactive engagement in the area of regional and national networking and collaboration, learning and knowledge management within the broader organizational context.
Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:
Educational Qualification and Experience
· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Risk Management or related field to the core response sectors nutrition, food security and WASH with minimum 5 years of work experience in coordinating emergency response multi-sectorial projects.
· Master’s degree on the above mentioned area is preferable.
· Demonstrated experience in the management integrated emergency response projects mainly WASH, nutrition, food security and child protection.
· Additional experience and commitment to, and understanding of, participatory approaches to respond for disaster affected people.
· Previous experience of managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge
· Extensive knowledge on emergency response project coordination and management.
· Knowing of Core Humanitarian Standards and/or DRM and resilience building which are workable by sector.
· Knowledge of human resource and coordination role from general and organization perspectives.
· Understand organisational principles, systems and have the ability to provide leadership and support to staff working at community level for disaster affected population.
· Knowledge of child-rights programming particularly Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE), Education in Emergency and gender in emergency.
· Knowledge of participatory mythologies including Monitoring and Evaluation.
Skills Specific to the Post
· Conceptual and strategic thinking skills specific to program area context project management mainly the operational and implementation aspects.
· Interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues and manage staff at grassroots.
· Have good writing and oral communication skills.
· Experiences in resource mobilization through preparation of emergency response especially on WASH, nutrition and food security proposals and concept note development.
· Understands budgetary processes including coordination, planning, monitoring and reporting.
· Ability to provide team leadership and communicate effectively.
· Ability to conduct assessment, analyze information, evaluate options and work with team to design integrated intervention.
· Ability to understand the humanitarian context specially the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and DRM at large.
· Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications
