Job Title: Coordinator for socio-economic activities
Based in: Dessie
Project locations: South Wollo Zone
Reports to: Project Manager/Country Representative
In the framework of its intervention named “Intervention of socio-economic and psycho-social support to mitigate the main causes of illegal migration in South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region”, funded by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (IDCA, the DONOR) and implemented by the INGO CCM (Comitato Collaborazione Medica) in partnership with CIFA NGO,
CIFA is currently looking for a project coordinator with focus on the socio-economic activities, to generally provide technical assistance for the implementation of planned project activities and in collaboration with the project staff, ensure that project objectives and results are achieved within the planned timeframe.
The project is focused on activities to create job opportunities and awareness in order to contrast the illegal migration in the Woreda of Dessie Zuria and in Dessie City Administration, involving the following beneficiaries: potential migrants among the youth and returnees, local authorities officials, teachers and youth associations members with a special focus on women and youth.
Objectives of the position, key tasks and responsibilities
Objective 1:
To provide adequate technical support in the planning, coordination and implementation of planned project activities.
Activities:
- To actively participate at coordination and planning meetings, internally with Project staff and externally with local authorities and other partners, in order to design, organize and implement the planned activities;
- To provide technical support to beneficiaries, collect and share information and data with the project staff, for proper planning and elaboration of implementation strategies based on assessed gaps and progress;
- To support the SHG, IGA and all the actors involved in SACCOs through the implementation of capacity building activities planned by the project and follow-up of their performance in terms of managerial system, rules and procedures;
Objective 2:
To ensure adequate supervision, monitoring and reporting of the planned project activities within the established deadlines.
Activities:
- To support in the elaboration and implementation of an efficient monitoring system involving all project staff, and carry out regular field visits and informal assessments;
- To support the project coordinator in the elaboration of activity progress reports for different stakeholders.
Objective 3:
To contribute to increase the beneficiaries’ possibilities of finding a job/self-employment and to participate in a competitive way to the local market
Activities:
- Follow-up on updates released by stakeholders, agencies and institutions;
- Follow up and supervise the social promoters activities, including following-up data collection and distribution formats;
- Periodic information, data collection and analysis through interviews, observation and discussions with beneficiaries, local communities and authorities;
- Liaison, coordination and representation of CIFA with stakeholders and other organizations involved in IGA activities in the areas of intervention;
- Reporting and share information within the project staff;
- If required, assisting in the elaboration of project proposals.
Minimum requirements:
- B.SC in Social sciences, preferably in the field of business management;
- Knowledge of the Project Cycle Management;
- At least 5 years experience in fields related to SACCOs management, IGA development, capacity building;
- Experience on micro-entrepreneurial and economic empowerment project management, business plan preparation, IGA/SACCO coaching;
- Experience in project follow-up and monitoring;
- Ability to prepare periodic narrative reports;
- Excellent written and spoken English and Amharic languages
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills
- Team player and problem-solving attitude, good analytical skills, flexible and goal-oriented
Additional requirements:
- Experience in working with NGOs
- Knowledge and working experience in area of intervention.
Job contract duration: 15 months (45 days of probation period).
Salary: the salary will be commensurate with the experience of the selected candidate and according to the organization salary scale.
