Research Description:
Globally, 2.3 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services, resulting in serious negative impacts to human health, economic prosperity, and gender equity. With the number and impact of natural hazards increasing, the resilience of existing and planned sanitation infrastructure is gaining increasing attention. This research aims to better our understanding of how sanitation infrastructure can be planned and implemented to ensure performance following future hazard events. Additionally, it seeks to better understand factors influencing latrine construction choices. The research studies six to eight flood-impacted kebeles in East Shoa Zone, Oromia Region.
Position Description:
The position is for two to three full-time enumerator positions for the above mentioned research project. A mix of male and female enumerators is desired for the position, and female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Hired individuals must commit to the entire period of study, with potential opportunities available to extend the contract. The individuals will be required to assist in translating survey material, collecting survey data, and survey data entry. Enumerators will be expected to travel and work together to collect and send data to the research team. The enumerator will need to travel to at least two woredas in East Shoa Zone, Oromia Region to collect the necessary data. A list of included kebeles and woredas can be provided upon request.
Misc. Details:
Enumerators will be paid through UpWork (or similar web-based freelance site) as an independent contractor every week. As such, an UpWork account (or similar site) and linked bank account will be required. All job-related expenses, such as local transportation, will be covered. The research team reserves the right to cancel the contract for any issue that may harm data collection, including but not limited to: significantly falling off schedule or suspicion of fraudulent data.
