GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of multi-sectoral development, resiliency and humanitarian responses. GOAL Ethiopia is currently working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders and responds to humanitarian crises in Ethiopia by working closely with local communities, local government and other key actors with a strong emphasis on resiliency, preparedness and longer term impacts. GOAL Ethiopia's major funders are USAID, OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid and UNOCHA.
ABOUT THE ROLE
GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, motivated, experienced Health Officer for its Rural/Urban Development Programmes located at Borena with a dynamic, technically competent and motivated personality to lead, inspire and manage the overall operation.
ABOUT YOU
You'll be an experienced Health Officer with humanitarian work experience. You'll be responsible to assist the Assistant Health Manager and Senior Health Officer Operation arise all stages of the project management cycle (identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) to achieve proposal objectives in the respective Woreda, supervise and support community-based GOAL Health Promotion Facilitators in their daily activities and ensure that they are involved in all stages of the project cycle management, promote healthy behaviors and healthy practices at the community and household levels.
(Educational Qualification and Experience)
· Diploma/BSc in Public Health or Clinical Nursing with 4 years of related work experience in community health preferably with a NGO for Diploma holders and 2 years for BSc holder.
· Knowledge and application of community health promotion interventions in areas of child survival, maternal and new-born health, adolescent reproductive health, nutrition…etc. Work experiences with community based structures are desirable.
· Capable of effectively planning and organizing work to meet individual and team objectives.
· Excellent training and facilitation, leadership, coordination and organizing skills,
· Familiar with the current national health strategies and approaches, particularly in areas of maternal and child health,
· Able to coach and develop team:
· Creates a culture that fosters high standards ethics
· Ability to effectively liaise with community, local governments organizations,
· Flexible and creative approach, highly motivated and able to take the initiative and work unsupervised
· Fosters working in teams & team work spirit,
· Very good organizing and coordinating skills,
· Very good knowledge in report writing,
· Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English.
· Continually looks to improve personal skill, knowledge and work hence contribute to capacity building within the team and organization,
· Very good knowledge and practice of computer application,
· Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities,
Desirable requirements:
· The employee must read, understand and implement GOAL Ethiopia’s crosscutting policy. He/she is expected to be sensitive and commit towards implementing approaches supporting gender, child and HIV/AIDS focused concepts.

Remuneration & Benefits:
Salary: - Birr 9,594.00
Pension: (11% from employer and 7% from employee)
Transportation Allowance: 10% of monthly salary
Hardship Allowance: 30% of monthly salary.
Medical Allowance: Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
