About ARC project
ARC (Addressing the Root Cause of Migration) is supported by the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands for a project called ‘Hope and Opportunities for people in Ethiopia’ that intended to provide alternative livelihood to potential migrants from/through Ethiopia.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Facilitate targeting of beneficiaries and intervention areas on the basis of selection criteria
Develop concept notes and project proposals in consultation and participation of relevant staffs of PIE and partners
Facilitate baseline surveys and other assessments
Conduct needs assessments of targets for various support
Facilitate various capacity building trainings and workshops for project beneficiaries
Facilitate the various discussions, meetings, networking and platforms conducted with the community, government and other partners
Facilitate field visits to guests, donors and staffs and partners
Conduct good budgeting and expenditure tracking of the project using the PIE’s and donor formats
Work in close collaboration and team culture with teammates, staffs and partners
Demonstrate effective communication and networking with staffs, supervisor , peers and partners for proper planning, implementation, monitoring, review, evaluation and reporting of the project activities
Conduct regular follow up, monitoring and supervision of the project to ensure the timely planning and implementation
Prepare and submit project monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress reports and updates to government, donor and plan using their standard formats timely and in quality standard
Collect, record, analyze and share/disseminate best experiences to others
Facilitate review and evaluation tasks in collaboration with staffs, donors and partners
Represent PIE at community, woredas and zonal levels
Promote Plan’s visibility and reputation in various events
Partnership development and strengthening
. Periodically collect information on information about other organizations working within the region to gain institution knowledge of the environment.
Facilitates communication and interaction between partners/collaborators and Program area finance team
Educational Background and Experience
BA or MA in Business Management, Development Studies, Marketing or similar discipline and at least six years relevant experience in coordinating/managing projects on livelihoods, IGAs, marketing, entrepreneurship, Business development, savings and basic service areas for urban refugees/migrants and host communities in NGOs.
Experience in working with urban refugees/migrants and host communities to improve their livelihoods and basic services.
Demonstrated experience in working with consortium members and partners
An in depth knowledge and technical expertise on contexts and livelihood of urban refugee/migrants and host communities
Demonstrated experience in coordination and facilitation of project planning and management activities at the community level
Knowledge and awareness of policy on urban refugee
Ability to work under pressure and in dead line
Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:
Understanding of livelihood and education strategies and program in urban refuge context
Experience developing concept noes and proposals
Demonstrated in coordination and facilitation of tasks
Demonstrated communication, networking and team work
Good analytical, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in flexibility, deadline as well as work under pressure
Fluency in written and spoken English
Knowledge
Knowledge of the education sector in emergency/refugee context
In-depth knowledge of project cycle management and child centred community development programming
Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development
Knowledge of effective participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes
