Background
Concern Worldwide is an Irish-based non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern Worldwide has been working in Ethiopia since 1973 focusing on health, nutrition, water and livelihoods as well as emergency interventions. The longer term intervention areas have largely been based in rural communities of Amhara, SNNPR and Tigray Regions and in the capital, Addis Ababa. However, emergency interventions have also been supported Oromia, Afar, Gambella and Somali Regions. Concern’s development programmes in recent years included; nutrition and health, food security and resilience building, urban vocation training, livelihoods and humanitarian response.
Concern Ethiopia Programme has started implementing a project entitled ‘Promoting young women’s livelihoods and nutrition’ in two districts of Tigray region with the objective of improving access to community-based nutrition and livelihoods services among selected young women in the target woredas. Concern would like to invite dynamic and creative applicants for the following position:
Job Purpose
To handle and process all local purchases as requested and approved by the relevant budget holders in line with Concern Ethiopia’s Finance and Logistics Procedures; to purchase quality goods and services from reliable suppliers with reasonable price and ensure timely delivery of items purchased so that Concern WW Ethiopia be able to meet its objectives.
Main roles and responsibilities
1. Carry out all local purchases as requested at program level in accordance with Concern WW Ethiopia logistics policies and procedures in all cases.
2. To undertake the necessary accounting, documentation and reporting procedure required following the purchase of items based on purchase procedure
3. Confirm that the purchased items are the right model, reasonable price, right qualities, right quantities, right brand, etc. as per the requesters’ specifications and are properly packed for storage as well as delivery.
4. Define priorities, in consultation with relevant person, in purchasing items as per the requests made.
5. Properly account/document for all working advance cash and cheque that is at hand for purchase related purpose.
6. Settle all floats taken as per Concern financial policies and procedures on time.
7. Make sure that Supplies Requests are properly filled with all required specifications and other relevant information before starting the purchase process.
8. Prepare purchase documents for annual government purchase report.
Qualification and experience
· BA/BSc degree in relevant field with 3 years relevant experience
· College Diploma in relevant area with min. 6 years relevant experience or
· Technical School certificate with 7 years relevant experience
· Computer Literate (in relevant packages)
· Fluent spoken & written English
· NGO experience is an advantage
· Good communication and report writing skills
· Fluency of local languages (Tigrigna) is an advantage
