The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was established in 1970 with the support of Save the Children Organizations of Norway and Sweden in collaboration with the Ethiopian government.
Mandates given to AHRI are to undertake biomedical, clinical and medical biotechnology research and adopt and implement scientific technologies to improve clinical care, health and well-being of the public; conduct clinical trials on new and improved medical diagnostic methods, vaccines and drugs to improve public health; build capacity of higher education and related institutions in the areas of biomedical, clinical and medical biotechnology research; and serve as a center of excellence in medical research and training
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Assistant Researcher.
The role of the Assistant Researcher
The Assistant researcher shall be based both at AHRI as well as in the Lund University Adama research site and work closely with the project researchers on the overall coordination and follow-up of field activities on participant recruitment, coordination of the study participants for the smooth recruitment and conduct of the study, proper enrollment and timely follow-up of study participants.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assistance to research project related to antiretroviral treatment failure performed at health facilities in the Adama uptake area
Personal Specification: Essential Skills and Experience
BA in Sociology/social work or Bsc in health management from an accredited institution and with minimum 2 years work experience
- Experience in doing, coordination or management of health research
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment

Principal Responsibilities:
· Facilitate the implementation of major project deliverables and activities
· Closely work with the project/research team, field coordinator and lab coordinator to execute the smooth conduct of the project
· Provide administrative assistance and support to the overall project
· Identify challenges and facilitate discussion to solve problems
· Follow and prepare regular technical and financial reports as needed
· Assist with revising the implementation plan regularly as needed annually
· Execute additional duties as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility
