SCOPE/JOB PURPOSE:
The Assistance health officer is part of the health team and the primary focus of the position is to engage and educate the camp population, specifically the sexually active women of Shimelba, Hitsats, May Aini and Adi Harush camp, about RH issues, especially regarding FP counseling and distribution. Related to this the assistant health officer will also be involved in STI/HIV/AIDS activities as per the RH & HIV/AIDS strategic plan designed for camps and the local host community, as needed. The RH officer will collaborate in activities related to the Shimelba, Hitsats, May Aini and Adi Harush GBV program. The RH officer is expected to collaborate with the RH & HIV/AIDS Social Workers (SW), mentor mothers, Peer Educators, youth health club, the ARRA health center staff and any other key stakeholders in Shimelba, Hitsats ,May Aini and Adi Harush refugee camps in order to ensure the successful realization of all program activities and goals.

· In collaboration with the RH & HIV/AIDS Officer, design culturally appropriate RH/FP and STI/HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
· Organize accurate and relevant RH/FP content material for the house-to-house visits conducted by the RH & HIV/AIDS SWs
· Follow mother to mother support group activity in the camp
· Make sure the mentor mothers document every process at their respective group
· Coordinate translation of mentors guides in to local language to be used by the mother to mother support group
· Design and conduct trainings/workshops on relevant RH issues
· Assist the RH & HIV/AIDS Officer to design activities that ensure that partners are imparting correct and accurate information regarding RH/FP and STI/HIV/AIDS
· Assist the RH & HIV/AIDS SWs in the processing, monitoring and follow-up of women who have received FP methods through community-based distribution
· Participate in monthly coordination meetings that include the RH & HIV/AIDS Officer and the ARRA health clinic staff
· Write and submit monthly reports on all activities in which the RH Assistant has been involved
· Assist in raising awareness on gender and gender-based violence issues in the refugee and the local community
· Maintain the stock of condoms and other modern FP methods
· With the collaboration RH and HIV/AIDS officer monitor and evaluate the program activities and make sure that monthly & quarter indicators met or not.
· Communicate with the logistics about the status of goods/services which are raised in quarter PR
· Directly supervise and provide support to the mentor mothers and social workers.

Ø Work with all IRC staff and Social workers with high team spirit.
External
Ø Ensure strong linkages with ARRA, MoH, UNHCR and other implementing partners.
Ø Work with ARRA, MoH, SWs, central committee, block leaders and religious leaders.

Requirements
Ø University degree/diploma in Nursing or Public health
Ø One/ three years relevant experience respectively for degree or diploma.
Skills and Competency
Ø Languages required: Fluency in English
Ø Knowledge of local language is an asset.
Ø Good report writing skills
Ø Basic computer Skill (Excel, Word, Power point).
Ø Proven ability in facilitation and community mobilization skills.
Ø Committed and strong attitude towards community empowerment.
Ø Strong inter-personal skills with a proven ability to work as a team member under difficult conditions.
