The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic Church based non-governmental organization with a mission to accompany, serve and protect refugees and internally displaced persons–regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality. The main areas of work are in the field of education, emergency assistance, child protection, livelihood and social services. JRS is a non - profit venture of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits’) that was established in 1980. JRS works in more than 50 countries worldwide. It has committed itself in Ethiopia for more than three decades helping refugees from all over Africa. JRS is now recruiting a dynamic child protection case worker providing comprehensive case management services to unaccompanied, separated and other vulnerable refugee children in Addis Ababa.
Summary description the position’s role
The Child Protection Case worker will be responsible in conducting all steps of the case management process for an assigned number of individual children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence and their families in this process. The Case Worker will be responsible in ensuring all Child protection principles are integrated in all steps of the case management process.

The case worker reports to Case management Supervisor

The Refugee Outreach Volunteer programme has been established by UNHCR in December 2016. Out of 60 Refugee Outreach Volunteers (ROVs), 20 are working in the area of Child and Youth Protection. They are tasked to identify and report protection risks in their communities, identify foster care arrangements, provide guidance and counselling to children at risk, provide information – including awareness raising – on risks as well as available services in Addis Ababa and make referrals.
