Job Summary
The Vehicles Repair Maintenance Mechanic is expected to insure timely, high quality and regular vehicle service/maintenance including body repair (required welding) is provided to all organization’s vehicles and provide professional driving services to the organization’s staff and visitors as instructed
Reporting to: Transport officer
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Mechanic
· Manage vehicle regular service, body work including welding and maintenance
· Ensure and maintain the safety of the work shop equipment and that of self and other people
· Checks the status of the vehicle before it is assigned for field trip
· Initiates purchase requisitions of spare parts and replacement tyres, and ensures their qualities
· Ensure vehicle’s service is kept
· Advice on vehicle spare parts purchase and ensures/verifies maintenance works, checks the service made/parts changed
· Ensures that, at all times, vehicles are equipped with a functioning jack wheel brace, and approved tool kit, (with at least one spare wheel, properly inflated tires, etc.)
· Ensures that all vehicles gone through annual inspections;
· Performs other related tasks as required.
· Checks the vehicle at the start of each working days for the general condition of the vehicle, oil, water, fuel level and tyre condition and drives the vehicle with maximum safety and care
· Gives driving service to the organization’s staff and visitors as per the schedule and instruction given
· Assists on regular vehicles movement report
· Assists in expediting activities when assigned
