Purpose of the Position:
Our organization increasingly relies on computer systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes. It's therefore crucial to ensure the correct running and maintenance of the IT systems. IT/Database Officer is mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary depending on the size and structure of the organization.
The purpose of the IT/Database Officer position is to: collect, compile, document and disseminate information to users. She/he ensures that IT equipment installed in Agar Ethiopia are well functioning. She/he plans, organizes, and coordinates computerization of Agar Ethiopia activities; streamlines and updates information needs and flow of information. The IT/Database Officer is Webmaster, System Administrator, IT Database Administrator. S/he is responsible for the entire IT support, IT system management, and database, website and server administrations of the Secretariat.
Scope:
IT/Database Officer monitors and maintains the computer systems and networks of an organization. S/he should installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solves technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person. Depending on the size of the organization, working as a technical support officer to head office, training center, and rehab centers, her/his role may span one or more areas of expertise.
The responsibility of IT/Database Officer as a database administrator (DBA) will be the performance, integrity and security of a database. S/he will be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. S/he may also work within first or second-line technical support. The work is as much about understanding how information systems are used as applying technical knowledge related to computer hardware or software.
