Job Summary
Under the guidance of RPID Director, the lab advisor supports the design and implementation of laboratory programs at ICAP-CU in Ethiopia supported emerging regions, Regional Referral Laboratories (RRLs) and health facilities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
As a lab advisor of ICAP -CU in Ethiopia, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
· Supports ICAP RO lab advisors in conducting mentorship and supportive supervision for service quality assurance as per the standard procedures
· Expected to participate two weeks per month in mentorship and supportive supervision program which sometimes could be extended beyond two weeks as deemed as necessary
· Review ICAP regional offices monthly lab performance and provide feedback
· Harmonize annual, semi-annual, quarterly and monthly plan with other departments and RPID
· Represent ICAP-Ethiopia in different forums when assigned by the supervisor
· Under the basis of need assessment conducted by ROs ,will be accountable to follow the technical evaluation ,purchasing process and distribution of furniture and supplies to ICAP supported emerging region facilities and RRLs
· Provide technical assistance in renovation of Laboratories
· Prepare the unit annual work plan with targeted benchmark indicators and evaluate them quarterly
· Facilitate and conduct SIMs and provide site level support to emerging regions develop PIPs for CEEs scored red/yellow
· Present and participate actively in monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual ICAP performance review meetings.
· Compiles monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual activity reports
· Ensure that all lab related targets are met
· Perform others duties assigned by the supervisor
Required qualifications and experience:
· MSc degree or above in Laboratory Science or related from recognized university
· Minimum of 5 years work in country experience, including laboratory support to HIV program
· Has TOT/ basic trainings on rapid HIV testing, LQMS, SLMTA, method validation and molecular laboratory tests (viral load and DNA PCR)
· Experience in teaching, mentoring, organizing and conducting related training.
· Experience in assessing WHO-AFRO SLIPTA and accreditation
· Experience in development of national documents related to specimen referral and laboratory accreditation process
· Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills
· Proficiency in written and spoken English
· Computer skills (MS Office, power point, excel and statistical packages)
· The incumbent may be requested to spend 75% of the time on a travel
