Demonstrate research leadership skill locally or internationally
Articulate and devise national research strategies, research questions and action plans
Conceptualize a national data management for several research data sources
Lead research programs and data sources either locally or internationally
Work with multiple data sources, research agencies, institutes or individuals
Work with different data and evidence sources to make sure the health system addresses national targets
Guide national data sharing policy, data access agreements, develop data regulations and assist data sharing mechanisms
Publicize data sources as required
On research technical skill/advisory
Design different types of research programs, research proposals and protocols,
Conduct and advise in-depth analysis of big population and demographic data, demographic and surveillance data, evaluation data, biomedical data, clinical data or relevant health related data
Produce policy relevant findings from rigorous systematic reviews, in-depth analysis of studies etc.
Understand local and international research ethics
Provide substantial contribution in the scientific advisory committee, research technical working groups and others
Use statistical software such as Stata, SPSS or R etc for analyzing research data.
On coordination, collaboration and networking
Create national information revolution platform; research data source collaborators or networks, routine data source collaborators or networks
Establish research communication and interpersonal communication
Understand existing health policies, strategies and country plans
Work independently, supervise different data sources
Lead national and international research conferences
Negotiate with funding organizations, research institutes and individual researchers
Facilitate and assist in mapping, centralizing, digitizing, managing and analyzing existing and new data sets and data’s in the country
On translating evidence to policy
Identify evidence gaps and demands and provide necessary evidence to the ministry and other stakeholders
Assess the quality of different evidence sources to facilitate health policy decision
Coordinate evidence to policy translation forums and dialogues
Develop evidence use tracking mechanisms at national and regional levels
Disseminate research findings using different scientific and media out lets
Job Requirement
Requirements
PhD in population and demography or PhD in Health Sciences having background of population and demography and 6 years work experience /
Experiences working on population and/or demography
Demonstrable evidence of strong written and oral communications skills.
Excellent analytic, writing and organizational skills.
Some experience with applied research
Professional, enthusiastic, hardworking and “can do” attitude
Capable of independently managing time and the tasks associated with a fast paced research agenda and strong organizational objectives.
