Teams in the field combat hunger on 4 fronts: nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.
For our Logistic in Gambella , we are currently looking for the following professional:
Position: Logistic Officer
Work Base: Gambella
Availability: As Soon As Possible
Project Duration: Three Month with high possibility of extension
General Assignment: To provide support to Base Log Manager in order to ensure the smooth running of logistics activities of the base..
1 : Assist in carrying out logistics activities
Activities:
1.1 Manage the base’s Fleet Management.
- Follow up the fleet (repairs, maintenance, fuel consumption) of Action Against Hunger and rental vehicles assigned in Gambella Region
- Providing close support to Assistant Logisticians working in sub bases and refugee camps concerning day to day vehicle management.
- Prepare vehicles and drivers schedule in collaboration with Base Log Manager.
- Monitoring Logistic Assistants to ensure that all vehicles have Action Against Hunger visibility, that are properly equipped with basic tools and equipment’s (like tool box, first aid kit, shovels, chains etc…) and do periodic check-up.
- Ensure that all drivers adhere to Action Against Hunger driving rules (National Action Against Hunger SOPs).
- Ensure proper follow up and maintenance of the generators in Gambella region
- Monitoring Logistic Assistants to properly follow and ensure timely refuelling of the vehicles and generators.
- In consultation with Base Log Manager, providing refresher trainings for drivers periodically.
1.2 Manage the equipment of the Base:
- Make sure that equipment (IT, communication, electrical appliances and devices etc.) in Gambella Base are handled properly with care and well-functioning
- Work closely with Logistic Assistants to ensure all newly purchased and/or delivered Action Against Hunger equipment are properly labelled according to Action Against Hunger kit log procedure.
- Update the Base equipment list according to Action Against Hunger kit log procedure.
- Follow the proper maintenance and reparation of Base equipment.
- Conduct inventory of all equipment in Gambella Base according to the needs.
- Provide support to program department
- Comply with donor regulations.
Follow Action Against Hunger procurement procedures, policies and financial guidelines
1.3 Stock Management:
- Provide technical support to Logistic Assistants during stock management activities
- Facilitate transportation of incoming and outgoing materials to/from Gambella via other bases and/or sub bases in collaboration with Logistic Assistant.
2 : Ensure Fleet compliance with internal security rules and procedures:
- Make sure Action Against Hunger security rules are respected in line with his/her duties (Follow all the movement of the vehicles and its passengers’ departure and arrival from camps, base to sub bases in collaboration with Logistic Assistants in all locations).
- Report any security concerns/incidents immediately to Base Log Manager or FC/DFC/Community Advisor if Log Manager is not available
3 : Staff Management
- Line managing Logistic Assistants, Purchaser, Action Against Hunger drivers and all Security Guards in Gambella region
- Prepare work plan for staffs under his/her supervision
- Identify trainings needs of staffs under his/her supervision and facilitate training implementation
- Carry out appraisal interviews for staff under direct supervision
- Provide technical support to staffs under his/her direct supervision
- Prepare security guards work schedule and ensure its proper implementation.
- Perform any other logistic related tasks as delegated by Base Log Manager
4: HR Management
· Provide strong supervision, guidance and advise they may require in order to carry out their tasks
· Ensure positive team spirit and intervene/ mediate in case of disputes
· Ensure regular and timely appraising
· Ensure proper break planning and gap coverage
5: Preparing and compiling reports
- Provide support to Base Log Manager in writing and compiling of Monthly Logistics Report, specifically Motor cost and Equipment Report
Educational Qualifications and Skills Required :
§ Degree/Diploma in procurement and supplies management or related field from a recognized university/college
§ 3 years of relevant work experience
§ Previous NGO experience is advantage
