The Field Assistant/Driver is expected to provide full time driving, and assisting the Field Coordinator, dispatching and messenger service and in field coordination to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the field support of the respective project.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Driving Responsibilities
The Field Assistant/Driver has to prepare vehicle by conducting regular check-up and plan requirements by studying schedules/requests by the office. Moreover, the The Field Assistant/Driver has to be always attentive to the needs of the Field Office and perform tasks as assigned.
Operate the organization vehicle within the country including ORBIS field areas ;
Make the vehicle ready regularly;
Fill out the vehicle log sheet properly and consistently as directed by the organization;
Keep records for regular maintenance and service of the vehicle;
Make sure that the vehicles are in good state constantly, with special emphasis on
vehicle check up before departing for field trip;
Respect the country's traffic rules and regulations;
Report any involvement in road accident immediately to the supervisor and concerned authorities and obtain relevant documents from Traffic Police, Local Administration etc. and submit same for timely insurance claim and/or any relevant action.
Identify the problem (if any) and maintain the vehicle as required otherwise report the problem for further repair by outside service provider;
Field Assistant Responsibilities
Deliver messages/dispatches to and from the office and effect payments for settlement of small bills as instructed by the supervisor;
Assisting the Field Coordinator by keeping complete records of assigned vehicles for the field office on a separate file;
Assist the Field Coordinator in routine matters like running errands, handling and arranging training and related materials etc; especially during trainings for Integrated Eye care Workers (IECWs), Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and volunteers such as Women Group Leaders (WGLs), Community Health Agents (CHAs),and school teachers and other relevant bodies that can contribute to blindness prevention;
Assist the Field Coordinator during Mass Drug Distribution in dealing with partners, transporters, facilitators and the beneficiary communities.
Assist the Field Coordinator in handling other field level logistics requirements like small procurements, safe keeping of materials and goods etc.
Provide any other office assistant services whenever available;
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Employment period: Until June 30, 2019 with a possibility of extension
Minimum 5 years of vehicle driving and practical experience in giving assistance at field level in an NGO or international organizations with safety first and good driving habits
