Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Regional Director, the Regional Care & Treatment Advisor will support the design and implementation of comprehensive DSD, HIV case finding, partner notification, post-exposure prophylaxis, key population services, care & treatment, adherence to retention in care, lab support, M&E and quality improvement activities in maintained regions. S/He will support regions in achieving the 3-90 targets.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
As advisor for HIV care and treatment, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
Prepare and harmonize annual, semi-annual, quarterly and monthly plan with other departments
Support repaid ART initiation of all newly identified HIV positive clients
Support the transition of first line drugs to dolutegravir based regimens
Ensure the implementation of TB-HIV collaborative activates
Support the implementation of adolescent friendly services in ICAP supported facilities
Ensure the implementation of DSD-ASM in all ICAP supported facilities
Ensure integration of mental illness and HIV in all ICAP supported facilities
Strengthen the integration of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) services into HIV program
Regularly conduct SIMS assessments analyze the findings ,identify gap and develop PIP & follow-up of the improvement plan
Support facilities in conducting quality improvement initiatives and build capacity to benchmark and scale-up best QI practices
Build the capacity of HCWs to monitor the routine viral load testing for eligible ART clients ,management of high viral load clients with enhanced adherence counseling and management of 1st and 2nd line treatment failures
Based on needs assessment , assist in the technical evaluation, purchasing process, and distribution of furniture and supplies to ICAP-supported facilities in the emerging Regions
Review ICAP regional offices monthly Key performance indicators and provide feedback
Participate actively in monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual ICAP performance review meetings.
Compiles monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual activity reports
Ensure all CT and TB/HIV related targets are met; and
With the regional ICAP’s mentors ,participate in the clinical systems mentorship and supportive supervision program 3 weeks per month which sometimes could be extended beyond two weeks as deemed as necessary
Perform others duties assigned by the supervisor
The incumbent may be requested to spend 75% of the time on a travel
Required qualifications and experience:
Physician with minimum of 5 years of experiences as internist/pediatrician, including engagement in care and treatment of HIV/AIDS clients.
Experience in HIV program technical coordination
Experience in teaching, mentoring, organizing and conducting trainings.
Experience in development of national documents related to HIV/AIDS Programs
Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Computer skills (MS Office and statistical packages)
