The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI is funded by CEBHA, an initiative to improve health care in the field of non-infectious communicable diseases, including hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and psychiatric illness, is multinational consortium involving partners in South Africa, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, and Germany and funded by BMBF
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate for the position of Project Coordinator for CEBHA Project.
Key responsibilities:
· Coordinates and administers research study associated activities.
· Assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed.
· Serves as administrative liaison for the project. Develops and maintains record keeping systems and procedures.
· Oversee day-to-day management and implementation of assigned project activities in close collaboration with teams’ members and collaborating institutions.
· Facilitate the implementation of project deliverable and activities in all members of the consortium and participate in the monitoring of progress
· Provide support to all participating countries and ensure that they are fully and actively engaged.
· The candidate will ensure administrative support is provided for services (procurement and financial management).
· Support the development of training and research capacity building at AHRI
· Ensure accurate and complete technical and financial reports are submitted on schedule.
· Present the activities, results and outcomes during project meetings
· Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the principal investigator (PI) to meet the objectives of the project
Required Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Public Health (MPh) or similar field (MSc) and minimum 8 (eight) years professional work experience in health care services; of which 3 (three) years project coordination experience and two years in research institute; OR
- BA in Public Health or similar field (BSc) and minimum 10 (ten) years professional work experience in health care services; of which 3 (three) years project coordination experience and two years in research institute.
