INTRODUCTION
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009. With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.
Background
The Regional Durable Solutions Secretariat (ReDSS) is a coalition of 13 NGOs working in the search of durable solutions in East Africa. ReDSS Secretariat is hosted by DRC and based in Nairobi with country units in Somalia and Ethiopia. ReDSS is a coordination and information hub that focuses on research and knowledge management, program support, capacity development, learning, and policy influencing. The Knowledge Management Specialist will be seconded to the Government of Ethiopia’s National Coordination Office (NCO), providing knowledge management expertise in support of the implementation of a comprehensive refugee response. This role will work closely with NCO, ARRA and other stakeholders in the government, directly engage with UN bodies and NGO partners working on durable solutions, and will bring together humanitarian, development, peace building and private sector actors to support the government-led vision of supporting DACs towards greater integration and self-reliance.
Overall purpose of the role:
ReDSS Knowledge Management Specialist (Addis Ababa) will be seconded to the NCO’s Knowledge Management (KM) Unit under the NCO’s head of KM, where s/he will serve as a vital resource in providing evidence-based integrated and sustainable solutions for Displacement Affected Communities (DACs) in Ethiopia. This will include the development, oversight, reporting and maintenance of learning systems and tools that support effective knowledge management, and identifying lessons learnt to improve policies and programming in the search of durable solutions.

Support to relevant Ethiopian government institutions and staff
Production and dissemination of knowledge and information products, analytical and policy briefs
Support and contribute to the management of knowledge sharing within the NCO and government actors
