SOS Children's Villages Ethiopia is a non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational charitable child welfare organization. For the past more than 40 years, we have been working to build families for children in need, help them shape their own future and share in the development of their communities.
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia focuses on providing humanitarian assistance, care and protection for children and families in coordination with the government and other relief agencies. The Organization continuously measures the impact of its program.
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia has identified under its strategic directions and midterm plan the need to leverage the various knowledge it acquires from its interventions. In this regard, the National Association would like of KM function to encompass the management of information, records, and documents that form part of its knowledge base. These call for institutionalizing knowledge management to ensure that SOS Children’s Village Ethiopia’s intellectual and knowledge based assets are effectively processed, enriched, utilized, and shared within and outside the NA as inputs to policy formulation, planning, programming, and implementing decisions.
Therefore, this terms of reference shows the road map as to how to deal with the assessment of knowledge management practice and develop action plan to address the issue.
Objective
1. Main Objective
The primary objective of the assessment is to systematically assess SOS Children's Villages Ethiopia's current knowledge management capabilities and aims to identify critical areas for applying knowledge management.
2. Specific Objective
2.1 Assess the extent to which knowledge discovery, capture, sharing, and application processes are utilized, and how well they are supported by KM technologies and systems
2.2 Assist the organization in developing a vision of where they need to be, taking into account the
2.3 Work with the organization to develop a road map of strategies to get from where they are to their vision
2.4 Provide basic knowledge on KM to selected professionals (such as HR, communication and brand, Program, ICT and other staff members) to enhance their capacities on KM
2.5 In collaboration with the SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia ICT Staff, develop the specifications and provide a menu of options, including comparative costs and benefits, for an ICT system that may suit the KM requirements of SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia
