GIZ-Sustainable Training and Education Programme II
Background
As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives; and in Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.
The BMZ/ Germany funded, and GIZ/ German Cooperation implemented “Sustainable Training and Education Program” (STEP) is supporting the Ethiopian Government with its reforms in Higher Education and Technical Vocational Education and Training/ TVET.
Reform of post-secondary education, particularly in the technical sector, is a critical aspect for moving Ethiopia towards its development goals. STEP supports its partners in the Ethiopian government to change the higher educational and TVET sectors targeting on the improvement of graduates’ competences needed in the labor market. The Ethiopian partners are government offices on federal and regional levels as well as educational institutions.

Responsibilities
The security guard is responsible for
· Provision of security services to the GIZ compound and office in Hawassa
· Provision of security services to the GIZ office vehicles parked on the compound and adjacent parking lots at day
· Opening entrance gate for GIZ office vehicles and registered visitors during office hours
Security checks of visitors if directed by the GIZ management staffRequired qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
· primary school education
· Physically fit
· Good hearing and eyesight
· Observant, Responsible and trustworthy
· Assertive with good interpersonal skills
Professional experience
· Knowledge of basic security and fire protection procedures.
· Minimum of 1-3 years of working experience in a similar position with references
· Skill in both verbal and written communication.
· Skill in observing situations and decision making.
· Skill in dealing courteously with public
· Ideally, skills in basic first aid and using a first aid kit and in basic fire safety and using a fire extinguisher
Other knowledge, additional competences
· ideally, a knowledge of English
· knowledge of Amharic and at least one local language spoken in
· no entries in criminal records
· reliability and good organizational skills, appropriate appearance and clothing
