Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Project Assistants for its “SDG WASH/WASH Alliance project in Oromia region. The job holders will be based in West Arsi Zone (one in Arsi Negele & one in Shashamane) of Oromia Regional State and reports to the Project Manager.
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the job is to implement Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s SDG WASH/WASH Alliance project which mainly focuses on having functioning, well-maintained save WASH facilities and good behavioral change practice by communities in targeted Woredas and kebeles. She/he will report to the Project Manager and works with the project team to implement the project in Shashemene.
Key Responsibilities:
· Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly detail implementation work plan
· Implement the project activities together with the alliance members, district health office, health extension workers , schools representatives and other relevant project partners
· Participating in site selection for WASH facilities construction
· Follow up the construction of WASH facilities
· Conduct regular supervision of WASH construction facilities together with relevant government stakeholders
· Prepare and submit weekly progress updates
· Collect and assess the necessary information related to WASH from health facilities, schools, community etc.
· Facilitate the establishment of WASH committee
· Conduct training for water and sanitation committee
· Conduct regular meeting with WASH committee, hygiene promoters, school WASH clubs, solid waste management groups, income generation groups etc
· Effect payment according to Amref health Africa’s financial policy and procedure for project activities
· Identify project beneficiaries and keep the necessary documentation, check list and registration
· Conduct and organize community training as required
· Participate on project implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the activities
· Assist the project in any emerging issue as requested by the supervisor
· BSC/BA in environmental health science, health communication, Public health , or any other WASH related fields
· Additional training in WASH/CLTSH, is advantageous.
· Practical experience on CLTSH/SLTSH application
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in WASH project implementation.
· NGO experience is an advantage
· Good interpersonal & communication skill.
· Knowledge and experience of the local language (Afan Oromo) is required.
Excellent computer skills: MS applications
· The ideal candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills & team player
· Undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor
Terms of employment: 1 year with possibility of extension based on availability of fund and performance
