Ethiopian Diabetes Association (EDA) is a national non-profit organization with head office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. EDA works on enhancing the health and saving the lives of individuals with Diabetes Mellitus. The EDA head Office focuses on ensuring that individuals with Diabetes Mellitus are educated, safe, healthy, and can live in health secure and economically affordable treatment situation in towns and rural communities. It facilitates access to health care services and improves quality of care in both public and private sectors. It works closely with those concerned to facilitate sustainable supply of insulin and other medications for individuals with Diabetes Mellitus. EDA also works on expanding diabetes awareness for the general public and as well educating those with the condition on their illness, and their ability to prevent and manage complications. EDA advocates creating enabling environment for better health services, increased commitment, and increased resources by stakeholders for patients with Diabetes Mellitus. EDA has branch offices throughout the country. EDA works with the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Ministry of Health (MOH), health service providers, and other local and international organizations.
The association has received a generous gift of land from the Ethiopian federal government for the construction of a diabetes treatment, education and resource center in Addis Ababa. The challenge is to raise support for building the facilities. EDA is currently looking and invites qualified candidates to apply for the following vacant positions.
