JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Education Officer and/, the ECCD facilitator supervises and coordinates the implementation of the ECCD-program in the refugee camp. The Supervisor will spend the working day in the centers and will have some outreach activities in the communities. It is expected that the supervisor are role-models, shows activities, follow up plans, monitor the volunteers and supervises them. The Supervisors are there to increase the quality of the ECCD, the development of the children and to ensure that all activities are in line with Save the Children's goals and policies.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
· Be a role model for Volunteers by giving doing activities with the children and supervise the volunteers. This means to spend as much time as possible in the centers to inspire and coach the volunteers.
· Oversee and assist volunteers in daily and weekly activity-planning. Ensure that all the pupils have access to structured ECCD of high quality.
· Oversee the compound and see that there are no harmful items.
· Contribute to planning, development and follow-up of capacity building for volunteers.
· Focus on child friendly and age appropriate ECCD (play that develop their physics, their minds and their creativity). Sports, free play and cultural activities are part of the ECCD.
· Ensure that health, nutrition and hygiene are promoted in the sites
· Ensure that all material is counted for, in good condition and stored tidy and securely. An inventory list must be made monthly.
· Ensure a quality learning environment indoors and outdoors.
· Liaise with parents and the community regularly to promote ECCD and keep them informed of development and/or problems
· Monitor protection needs and gaps among the children and report your observations to the supervisor
· Manage the school-feeding-program for small children
· Ensure that all children arrive in our activities are properly registered and have safe care as long as they stay there. Follow up on children’s absence.
· Ensure that the rooms are properly staffed throughout opening hours. If some classes are without volunteers the supervisor takes over.
· Supervisor is required to register the correct attendance and absence for our volunteers. He/she will report absence/ delayed attendance to line manager.
· Make sure that there is absolutely zero tolerance for corporal punishment, abuse or aggression from our volunteers, guards or other staff, directed to children. If this occurs, the Supervisor must immediately inform the Assisting ECCD Officer or the ECCD officer. The Supervisor shall also ensure that no motorized vehicles are used in our centers and that no tobacco or consumption of chat takes place.
Monitoring /evaluation
· Present daily, weekly/monthly and quarterly attendance, enrolment and status report to ECCD officer, which also will include activity progress, and highlight any areas which need special management attention.
· Undertake site supervision to review status of project implementation and to advice or any corrective action that needs to be taken.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPEREINCE
· Diploma in Social sciences
· Two years working experience related to ECCD
· Good organizational, communication and writing skills.
· Ability to work well with children, parents and others in the school-setting.
· Good command of spoken and written English and the mother tongue of the pupils
· All of our ECCD staff must demonstrate an open and inclusive attitude, commitment to the importance of protecting children and manage to work under pressure and appreciate challenges. Good teamwork skills are a must.
· Respect and advocate for Save the Children rules, policies and code of conduct
· Very good conceptual understanding of the job
· Strong interpersonal skill and customer handling
· Very good skill in communication
