Background
The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University is a premier institute for education, research and policy dialogues on peace and security in Africa. Established in 2007, it ranks among the top 50 think tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa according to 2015, 2016 and 2017 Global Go To Think Tank Index Reports.
The Communications and Profile Management Unit at IPSS periodically publishes a wide range of communications and branding materials that include policy papers, flyers, newsletters, infographics, banners, roll-ups, etc. IPSS intends to contract a graphic designer to facilitate the Institute’s growing need for quality design services. The successful candidate is expected to be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, and be able to deliver high-quality materials for the Institute’s various activities.
Objectives
IPSS is searching for a team player to work in a diverse environment in the area of graphic design. The candidate must be able to work quickly and thoroughly on developing tools for use on social media, in print and on the website.
Responsibilities
Duration and location of the assignment
3-6 months beginning in November/December 2018. The contract extension is dependent on performance. The consultant will work from our offices in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Supervision
The consultant will work under the guidance of the Communications and Profile Management Coordinator.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:
· Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and work with diverse people.
· Ability to be flexible and respond to changes to graphics as part of the review and feedback process.
· Attention to detail and ability to take instruction is essential.
