The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate for the position of Junior Researcher - Pharmacist under Clinical Trial Directorate.
Key responsibilities:
· Responsible for investigational drugs and supplies logistics management.
· Maintains responsibility for clinical investigational drug storage, handling, dispensing and accountability.
· Prepare and/or review SOPs related to investigation product handling and administration.
· Responsible in drug packaging and labeling for dispensing.
· Maintains a pharmacy binder which contains a study summary, protocol, dispensing procedures, completed samples of required paperwork, and any other relevant materials for each investigational trials.
· Maintains responsibility for the management of the inventory for clinical investigational drug trials, orders, replaces and returns study materials as required.
· Participate in the randomization of study subjects to treatment study drugs when necessary.
· Ensure all local and international standards regarding investigational drug handling are maintained.
· Provide supervision to study treatment centers as necessary.
· Assist the PI and team members by providing pharmacy related information and represent the pharmacy department in all clinical trial activities.
· Maintain temperature log in study agent storage area.
· Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the principal investigator, the team leader and/or director.
- BSc in Pharmacy AND Minimum GPA 3.00 for male and 2.75 for female
Other Competencies:
1. Interest in clinical research is a requirement.
2. Registered professional pharmacist, licensed.
3. Training in GCP and/or research ethics is an advantage.
4. Well versed knowledge to local and international guidelines and regulations for the drug and supply management.
5. Strong interpersonal communication skills.
6. Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others.
