In Ethiopia, CRS has a long and rich history of providing emergency relief and development assistance to the people of Ethiopia since 1958. At present, CRS/Ethiopia implements multiple projects through different partner organizations. CRS/Ethiopia has a highly diverse portfolio ranging from very large food-supported emergency response to cutting edge development programs. The current CRS/Ethiopia budget stands at $100 million with funding from the U.S. Government, UN agencies, private foundations, individual donors, and CRS private funds.

Job Summary:
You will provide technical advice and support to a range of program design and implementation issues in the areas of technical trainings and wage employment for Feed the Future Livelihoods for Resilience - Oromia. The Activity is a five-year USAID-funded activity that aims to support the livelihood options of chronically food insecure households in Oromia region. The Activity’s goal is to improve the sustainable economic well-being of Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP) households in Arsi Zone (Sire, Dodota and Zeway Dugda), West Arsi (Shalla, Arsi Negele, Heben Arsi and Siraro), and East Shoa (ATJK and Boset). The Activity will assist 24,500 households with a goal to successfully graduate 18,375 households. The cooperative grant is from February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2022.
After the PSNP clients have identified on-farm and off-farm value-chains to invest in, the Activity will provide the needed technical trainings to approximately 20,000 clients. Options the Activity is considering are building in-house capacity, contracting providers (i.e. research institutions, A/TVETs, private training companies) to provide trainings at the woreda and kebele-level, providing scholarships for selected clients to attend institution-based trainings, working with volunteers hosted by Farmer-to-Farmer to provide technical assistance and arranging apprenticeships. After completing their respective technical trainings, clients will decide to whether to pursue self-employment or wage employment. For those clients selecting wage employment, you will identify employment opportunities, identify barriers (especially for youth), make clients employment-ready, and facilitate linkages between clients and employers.
