About the Organization:
VisionFund Micro Finance Institution s.c (VF MFI) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country through 65 branches. VF MFI now seeks to fill the following position.
Position: Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO)
About the Job
VF is seeking to hire DCEO to be based in Addis Ababa. She/he/will be directly responsible for providing leadership towards the attainment of the vision, mission and goals of the Institution; ensuring quality of the MFI’s products, sound management of business risks and mobilization of resources; leading the institution including target setting, achievement of goals and compliance to regulatory and institutional policies.
Tasks and responsibilities:
· Plan, organize and control all the day-to-day activities of the institution; Collaborate with the Chef Executive Officer in the overall administration of VF MFI,
· Provide leadership on operation, marketing, integration, and business development and make all decision in relation to these functions within the framework of existing regulations and delegated decisions making rights,
· Lead the development of an overall business plan for the MFI that includes, among other things, branch targets and projection; Ensure targets set by the branches, agreed with the management, and approved by the BOD are duly delivered,
· Develop operations, integration, marketing, and branding policies for approval and ensure proper implementation and compliance of the same,
· Develop proposals for further improvement of operation, including concepts for new products and services,
· Develop all capabilities required to serve as effective leader of a dynamic, rapidly growing, innovative full service financial institution that understands its clients and delivers the products they need in the way that need them.
· Develop a team that can deliver all aspect of the plan effectively,
· Ensure sound extension, monitoring and documentation of loan by all branches
· Ensure efficiency and sustainability in the branch network
· Ensure quality of the loan portfolio of the VF MFI
· Ensure active mobilization of deposits and other resources,
· Ensure sound management of risks,
· Ensure compliance to regulators, audits national and global network standards.
· Ensure the sound and timely preparation of complete and accurate performance reports,
· And other responsibilities that may be assigned by the CEO.
· Masters or bachelor degree (masters or bachelor degree (master’s degree preferred) in microfinance, banking, accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management and related fields,
· A minimum of 10 years’ experience, out of which five years in hands on direct experience in progressively senior managerial positions in managing micro finance operation, retail banking or micro enterprise development institutions,
· Through knowledge of banking principles and practices, micro finance industry including operating features and practices, current trends and development in the micro finance development,
· Clear understanding of risk management in microfinance and practices to be implemented throughout the branch network.
Skills and personal attributes:
· Determined personality with initiative, perseverance, and the ability to motivate and mange a team,
· Capability ad willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of integrity,
· Ready to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization’s ideals and core values,
· Be proficient in Microsoft and excellent excel spreadsheet skills,
· Very good knowledge in economic and initial topics,
· Be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor and coach,
· Excellent interpersonal, communication (for both internal and external situations.) and very good marketing skills,
· Strong problem solving skills and detail base,
· High level of customer service and strong willingness to go out to the field.
