A. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the National Finance Manager, the poultry Cost division Head is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and controlling the functions of costing activities; formulates policies pertaining to cost unit and submits to the National Finance Manager for approval and ensures the implementation of same.
B. TYPICAL DUTIES
1. Plans, directs, co-ordinates and controls the activities of Cost unit; reviews and evaluates the results of various cost/profit centers through consultation with department heads;
2. Directs the planning, installation and maintenance of cost accounting systems, policies and procedures;
3. Calculates unit cost and prepares statement of allocations of quantities and values to each appropriate product upon properly analyzing transactions.
4. Evaluates and updates the cost accounting control systems;
5. Coordinates the development of cost standards and evaluations;
6. Renders advisory services to all the senior and/or departments related with cost matters;
7. Advises management on the overall financial impact of various cost and budget decision alternatives;
8. Checks the preparation of cost build-up sheets for each purchase, individual cost/profit center, service and other ongoing activities involving cost;
9. Investigates problems in the economic use of machinery and equipment and provides recommendations to reduce waste and high running cost;
10. Ensure the recording for all Goods Receiving Notes ,Goods Return Notes, Credit Notes, Store Issue Vouchers, Goods Return Vouchers and Store Transfer Vouchers
11. Ensure the purchase of Capex and consumables including Feed - Raw Materials, Medicines, Vaccines and disinfectants.
12. schedule, organize and facilitate the monthly and year-end stock-taking procedures of all sites for all stocks – Raw Material, MVD and Finished Feeds
13. Prepare stock and finished goods reconciliations; explain variances and propose the necessary adjustments on a monthly basis.
14. Report slow moving and dead stocks of raw materials and finished goods and liaise with QHSE for possible disposals.
15. Reconcile finished goods records against production and hatching Departments’ reports
16. Review and ensure correctness of coding on store vouchers for finished goods
17. Responsible to develop cost build-up for imported materials and determine the unit cost for each.
18. Produce month-end cost of production reports by product by site
19. Needs to assist the management in price setting process with cost information
20. Ensure the SOP of Inventory and amend whenever the need arises
21. Review and ensure correctness of coding for items received
22. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
23. Prepare Inventory shortage overage and come up with variance analysis.
24. Prepare the closing of the cost of production Egg, the average unit cost for feed and also for the cost of production DOC.
25. Prepare the feed unit cost Analysis.
26. Prepare the cost of goods sold.
27. Performs other relevant duties as required by his/her supervisor.
Competences
· Ability to lead and support staff under his/her supervision
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/suppliers
· Excellent knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software and ERP is advantageous.
· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
· Ability to work independently and carry out assignments by ensuring completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Qualifications and Requirement
· Degree in Accounting.
· Knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software
· Advantageous if ACCA partly qualified
· Excellent Computer Proficiency
Experience
· Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
