ROLE PURPOSE:
The Sr. Program Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the overall quality of sponsorship programs and communication pieces. Within his/her capacity the Sr. Specialist works closely with the Head of Sponsorship, Deputy Head of Sponsorship, the CO PDQ teams, SCUS Technical Assistants and Marketing teams to meet all sponsorship program and communications related objectives for the Country Office. The Sr. Specialist ensures that sponsorship program activities are focused on delivering quality service to children and all the quality of data and communication materials are produced in compliance with the sponsorship policy and procedures. Specific responsibilities include:
· Oversee the quality of sponsorship programs through ensuring the implementation of the full DIP and monitor periodically, implementation of Save the Children’s quality benchmark, integration of child participation and cross cutting themes into sponsorship programming.
· Coordinate with PDQ technical teams to ensure sponsorship is more visible, drawing on the in country thematic TA’s and coordinate sponsorship international TA with the larger CO portfolio.
· Ensure sponsorship research initiatives produce evidence for quality improvement and feed into business development process.
· Ensure the country office communications are written in a way to promote sponsor-child engagement.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Program Management
Sponsorship Communications
· Ensure that systems are in place to monitor child eligibility and participation in sponsorship-funded programs. When standards are not being met, take proper and timely action based on agency policies and procedures.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Quality Assurance
· Ensure sponsorship programs adhere to sponsorship programming cycle and each cycle is well documented (Situational Analysis, Program Design, MEAL Plan, Vision for Impact Area Plan and Baseline Data, Mid-term and Final Evaluations and Lessons Learned).
· Ensure sponsorship programs conduct regular Save the Children’s quality benchmark assessments and ensure the findings are effectively used for program improvement.
· Work with CO MEAL team to design results based monitoring and evaluation process for sponsorship core programs.
· Work with CO MEAL to develop sponsorship IPTT and MEAL database.
· Work with the head of sponsorship on management of the longitudinal study in Central Tigray Impact Area.
· Monitor and systematically document implementation lessons, best practices and innovations for projects under supervision; and ensure that such information is fed into new business development.
· Facilitate mid-term, terminal and other review and evaluation of projects through participatory process
· In coordination with MEAL coordinator, lead and coordinate the development of TORs and management of tasks, including quick assessments, evaluations, and documentations, for projects under supervision as required
· Produce regular reports and sponsorship program updates.
Staff Mentorship, and Development
· Manage the performance of all staff in the department work area.
· Organize quarterly meeting with field program teams.
· Coach and mentor field sponsorship staff on program management.
Coordination and Community Mobilization

In collaboration with other key partners, ensure the establishment sponsorship multi-sectoral coordination mechanism at regional/ Zonal level and its proper functioning.
