BRIDGE, Building Rural Income through Inclusive Dairy Business Growth in Ethiopia, is a five-year dairy development project (2018-2023), implemented by SNV Ethiopia in partnership with Wageningen University-Livestock Research. The impact of the project is to contribute to an “improved performance in the dairy sector in Ethiopia”, for 120,000 farming households, with four main outcomes: (1) Improved milk production, (2) Improved milk collection, processing, and marketing, (3) Improved consumption of nutritious foods, and (4) Improved enabling environment. The project will work in 4 regional states: Oromia, Amhara, SNNP and Tigray.
SNV Ethiopia is looking for dynamic, experienced, talented, energetic, flexible, open and ready to learn candidates for Dairy Extention Facilitator position for its growing program and the Building Rural Income through Inclusive Dairy Business Growth in Ethiopia (BRIDGE) project in Amhara Region.
The successful appointee will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support, and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own skills, knowledge and experience. This position is fully responsible for giving Support to the Public Extension System to implement participatory dairy extension strategy, Increase performance of Livestock Office & DA, Increase performance of DFEG & Lead farmers, Support Private Extension for specialised dairy farms, Networking, planning and reporting and Any other related duties assigned by the DEA (Dairy Extension Advisor) at cluster level.
Applicants should possess qualifications and requirements in relevant disciplines in the areas of animal Science/Livestock or related fields (BSc/Diploma), with at least 3 years of experience working with the public extension service. Experiences in the organisation of extension service delivery at woreda level and Kebele to deliver extension services to farmers. The person will also have good understanding of the government extension system and how to improve it, knowledge and practice of the woreda working language, have good performance in coaching, have Strong capacity of convincing Livestock agents to go the BRIDGE-way and with a motor bike driving licence.
