Organizational Context and Scope
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context and Scope of the Position
IOM Ethiopia’s Migration Management Unit (MMU) implements a variety of programmes aimed at protecting migrants and improving migration management and governance in Ethiopia. Among other, IOM is implementing an EU-funded project entitled “Joining Forces: Multi-Stakeholder Action to Offer Young Refugees and Host Communities a Sustainable Future in Ethiopia” which aims to create evidence-based, innovative and sustainable development and protection solutions for urban refugees and their host communities in Addis Ababa and Shire through improved access to education, livelihoods and justice as well as improve capacity of stakeholders with urban refugee protection mandates. In addition to IOM, the project is implemented by a consortium led by Plan International and composed of ZOA, MCMDO and EOC-DICAC.
Under the overall supervision of the Migration Management Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the National Capacity Building Officer, the incumbent shall be responsible for carrying out duties related to project/programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, visibility and communications activities.
