RESPONSIBILITIES AS BUSINESS ADVISOR
Participate actively with project staff and hired expert in assessment of wet mills to determine their suitability for the establishment of wetland.
1. Follow-up and support the site survey, timely preparation of site sketch and calculation of bill of quantity for the establishment of wetland and construction of pulp hopper.
2. Manage and support up to 12 wet mills. The number of clients will depend on client location and other factors including the level of support and the amount of work required at the wet mill sites. The following activities will be undertaken
· Follow-up and maintain the proper functioning of wetlands, water usage records and water meter usage and maintenance
· Follow-up excavation, leveling, trench preparation and supervise planting of vetiver grass on the wetland, soil bund and lower side of compost bed; planting grass strips on the wetland
· Follow-up material delivery and construction of pulp-hopper on time.
· Provide technical support to separate the pulp from waste water and compost properly to use as organic fertilizer.
· Follow-up planting of indigenous tree plants on the buffer zone to protect soil erosion and discharge of wastes to the nearby water bodies.
· Follow-up proper application of vetiver wetland and pulp hopper to manage properly the waste water and pulp in wet mill sites.
· Follow-up timely connection of waste water channel in the site.
3. Follow-up the purchase, installation of water meter; and provide training to wet mill manager on tracking of water; keep the water consumption record properly. Other training support components will be on quality and sustainability related issues
4. Gathering pictures and related information for beneficiary profile.
5. Submit weekly scorecards/status report and set weekly objective every Friday.
6. Create strong relationship with woreda government offices and other stakeholders to effectively implement planned activities.
7. The BA should ride motor bike to handle planned activities smoothly.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the senior business advisor and/or Project manager.
· Bachelor’s Degree in, Environmental Engineering, Land Resource Management, Environmental Protection Management, Natural Resource Management, Water supply Engineering or other related fields.
· At least two to four year’s professional experience – ideally private sector/government – in one or more of the following areas: environmental protection, Wetland management, and related experience in environmental protection and management.
· Strong planning skills and experience working to strict time-guidelines.
· Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
· Willingness to spend significant time in rural areas.
· Excellent English oral & written presentation skills
· Computer literacy, Business Acumen.
· Motor bicycle riding license is a must. Ability and willingness to ride a motor bicycle is also a must.
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Knowledge of Local language is preferred - Sidamigna or any local language in SNNPR
· Skill and experience of wetland establishment
